
Dr. Lana O’Son (U.S. CDC) is an epidemiologist for the Humanitarian Health Team in CDC’s Global Public Health Emergency Branch. She has over 10 years of public health experience. Prior to joining CDC, Lana worked as Head of Medical Activities for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Lebanon in response to Syrian and Palestinian refugee crisis. After completing her master’s in public health (MPH), Lana joined MSF’s Epicentre to complete a mental health study and chronic disease needs assessment in Northern Iraq. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she worked on the COVID response at the county level in the U.S. which included leading a team of epidemiologists, contact tracers, and overseeing mass vaccination clinics. Since joining CDC, Lana has worked on evaluating Early Warning Alert and Response Systems and providing technical assistance for other global emergency response activities.
Lana received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from University of California, Irvine, a medical degree from Lebanese American University School of Medicine and an MPH from Emory University Rollins School of Public Health with a Certificate in Complex Humanitarian Emergencies.
