Emelie Yonally Phillips (Epicentre) is a Global Health Specialist and Social Scientist with more than 8 years’ experience developing, coordinating and executing qualitative and mixed-methods research-based projects for non-governmental organizations, United Nations agencies and governmental institutions. Emelie applies social science research and human rights lens to actively centre communities, improve programs and strengthen response and preparedness in emergencies, humanitarian crises and resource-scare spaces. They have worked across Southeast Asia and Sub-Sahara Africa on topics covering gender and health, adolescent nutrition, statelessness, migrant and refugee health, vaccine hesitancy, inclusive education, sexual and reproductive health, and risk communication and community engagement. Emelie’s work has aimed to not only create stronger, more sustainable solutions, but ensure that the fundamental right of affected populations to have access to the information and resources they need for their well-being and to shape and determine the policies and programmes that impact them are realized. Emelie has a Masters in Global Public Health from New York University and a Masters in Social Health Medical Anthropology from the University of Melbourne.
